We would like you to make the most of your days in Copenhagen. Therefore, please take advantage of our offer to meet Danish colleagues from the hosting newspaper Politiken on an informal basis, before, during and after the conference programme.
By PER MUNCH, Space 2012 commitee
By now we have a powerful line-up of 16 layout artists, journalists, graphic designers, photographers and an editor-in-chief, who would like to invite you to a humble lunch in the Politiken building at Copenhagen’s City Hall Square on Thursday 27th September. For a nice talk and an introduction to our media reality.
Some of us will also invite you on a personal guided tour either on Thursday evening after the programme at ‘Den Store Diamant’ – or Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. after the conference has terminated.
You could meet up with Tatiana Tilly for this:
On at Thursday night I will invite my guests to the district of Vesterbro. Only 20 years ago the area was a dodgy place, home to drug addicts and prostitutes. The rough environment is still there, but now the area has changed into a dynamic place with a lot of cool cafes, galleries and young entrepreneurs. The Meatpacking District (Kødbyen) used to be crowded with cattle — today it is full of bars and life.
Journalist Rasmus Dam Nielsen would like to introduce you to the trendy bars around Sankt Hans Torv, on Nørrebro. And also reporter Lea Wind-Friis knows some rather nice bars in the inner city for spending a couple of recreational hours Thursday evening. Or you can go all-in with city reporter Flemming Christiansen, who will be your Space guide for at trip to the legendary Christiania.

RUBY’s COCKTAIL BAR
Or you could be a bit more posh and join our art expert Peter Michael Hornung, for a drink at the best cocktail bar in Copenhagen, Ruby, housed in an old-fashioned Copenhagen apartment near ‘Den Store Diamant’.

ØRESTADEN AND AMAGER BEACH
On Saturday – if you catch a later flight – you will be able to discover the new architecture of Ørestaden, southern Copenhagen, with local Tomas Østergren, who is also page layout artist at Politiken. The tour will include a visit to his roof garden with a great view of the area.

Or you can visit the nearby Amager beach with journalist Helle Sindal, who lives close by and knows the urban hotspots.

Political reporter Mads Brandstrup would like you to see outer Nørrebro around Jægersborggade where gentrification is going on right now. This street that used to be home to biker gangs and drug-dealers has now gained its first Michelin-starred restaurant. Outside children are playing and groups of mommies sipping skinny latte.
On Saturday, Anne-Marie Steen Petersen, one of our in-house illustrators, would like to introduce you to her favourite museum, ‘Glypoteket’, near Tivoli, with its playful mix of Greek sculptures, Egyptian tombs and a nice café under indoor palm trees with the best cakes in town.

Do not hesitate to send me an e-mail if you are interested in participating.
Let me know:
1. are you interested in lunch Thursday, in a guided tour for Thursday evening or Saturday morning? Or a combination?
2. Do you have a favourite programme – or a favourite guide? Or do you have other requests that we might be able to fulfil?
3. We will try to match people in groups of 3-4 participants for each Space Guide.
4. The lunch is on Politiken – the rest of the expenses have to be covered individually, since this is not part of the official programme.
