Johan Silfversten Bergman from Sweden was at the Space seminar excited to hear about the close integration between developers and journalists.
But what did the participant learn from the seminar? Did they bring anything home with them? Was there some specific speaker or event that they in particular liked? We have caught some of the participants and asked them about it.
Johan Silfversten Bergman, works with digital media. He is Project Manager at SvD.se, Svenska Dagbladet.
The big learning for him at the seminar was the emphasis on the close integration between developers and journalists.
“A big part in successful digital journalism seems to rely on the close cooperation between developers and journalists,” he says.
It was also a revelation for him to hear and see that the smart and simple solutions always succeed over the big and complicated ones. “The presentation by VG Nett and their interactive pieces following the terror attack in Norway served as excellent examples of just that I think.”
“I really enjoyed the talk from Tom Byermoen at VG Nett. It was interesting to see under what circumstances their excellent coverage of the terror attacks in Oslo and the Utøya massacre really was made. It was very impressing to see how the staff kept working under such a tragic and horrific event,” Johan adds.
“I also really liked Mark Porters presentation about designing for tablets. It was informative and mind opening and definitively something that I will return to in my work.”
Johan have taken the learning’s home with him as a reminder to keep things smart and simple. “It is usually something we all need to be reminded of.”
