Miranda Mulligan – The Queen of Responsive design – is Executive Director at Northwestern University Knight Lab, Chicago. The lab is a team of technologists, journalists, designers and educators working to advance news media innovation through exploration and experimentation. But what Mulligan is known for in the newspapers world is the one to take the first brave steps into responsive design as the responsible designer at The BostonGlobe.com which was awarded World’s Best Designed in 2011.
Mark Porter is a world-renowned editorial designer and former creative director of The Guardian, where he was responsible for the ground-breaking relaunch of the newspaper and the design of it’s award-winning website and mobile apps. In 2010 he set up Mark Porter Associates, a design agency working across print, broadcast, and digital media for a high-profile list of international clients. The Guardian on Tablet was awarded World’s Best Design in the SND digital competition 2012.
