The Danisk publishers organization has hired Louise Brincker as new CEO. She replaces Morten Langager. Louise Brincker is at the moment working as head of the Management and Communicationdepartment at the Danish Ministry of Culture Affaires. She will start in her new position September 1.

The Norwegian professional journal “Politiforbundet” has been awarded “Fagpresseprisen 2019” The media did also win the frontpage prize as well as the journalist prize.

Two Norwegian newspapers were awarded at the competition European Newspaper Award in Vienna in Austria. In the category Local newspaper Sunnhordland was named European Newspaper of the Year, and in the category Regional Newspaper Adresseavisen was named European Newspaper of the Year.

The editorial department at Östersunds-Posten was honored as the best in Sweden at the annual “Årets Dagstidning”, whick took place in Stockholm. The jury concluded, that the newspaper had done outstanding editorial work in the last year.

Helsingin Sanomat won a bronze medal at Malofiej Infographics Competition in Spain.
HS was awarded in the digital category with the piece of ”Pasila grows to the heights”. The story visualizes Helsinki’s future tower buildings.
HS utilized the Unreal 4 game engine for the first time in the news article. The game engine is a platform with a collection of tools to make games easier.
The animation was concieved by videographic designer Uolevi Holmberg. Text and research was by journalist Lari Malmberg and coding was by Elisa Bestetti. The Project was produced by Juhani Saarinen.
The bronze to HS was one of the three medals that Finland won in the competition. The other two were won in print category by infographic designer Hannu Kyyriäinen of magazine Suomen Kuvalehti.
The Society for News Design have awarded Susan Mango Curtis and Tim Harrower with Lifetime Achievement Award 2019.
Susan Mango Curtis and Tim Harrower have had decades of great influence on countless students of visual storytelling all over the world.

The juries has finished their work after four days of intensive work in Helsinki. Now it’s time for celebrating the winners of Best of News Design Scandinavia.
This year the Award show will take place in Copenhagen in conjunction with an exclusive mini-conference hosted by SNDS.

The Swedish Publishers Organisation – TU -Medier i Sverige – has announced the nominees in the contest Årets Dagstidning 2019. The winners will be presented at a Gala Show at Berns in Stockholm April 11.
Årets Dagstidning has seven categories and 18 newspapers and newsorganizations has been nominated in the competition as well as three persons.
